I dream of a musician wearing my designs someday and with BurdaStyle’s latest contest that dream could come true. BurdaStyle is teaming up with Style X to offer a design challenge to have your design worn by a musician performing at one of the largest music events in the United States! To enter, BurdaStyle members must post one fashion sketch and one mood board as a project, detailing their dream rock star fashion look. All submissions must be uploaded by February 7 at 11:59 p.m. 5-10 sketches will be chosen by BurdaStyle, BERNINA, and Style X. On February 8th, BurdaStyle will announce and contact five winners. Each winning designer will then be given the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind look for a well-known musician featured at SXSW Music! Winners will be responsible for sourcing their fabric and notions. The winning looks will be featured on the Style X runway and editorial coverage on the BurdaStyle blog.

After my website has been on hiatus for several days allow me to update you on the BurdaStyle DIY Fashion Show! Sunday morning started with a meet and greet with the BurdaStyle team and designers involved in the show. It was so nice to meet all the other designers and talk about fashion, SXSW, and practice the run through for the show. Later in the afternoon, I met my model Jasmine Van Dyke at Vanity Salon to consult hair and makeup styling. Upon arriving at Venue 222, I was photographed by World Fashion Watch and interviewed by Society HAE. The fashion show featured 15 designers from all over the U.S. including a finale with all the designers and models sharing the stage. Afterwards I enjoyed using my drinks tickets at the bar, having photo ops, and relaxing after 13 hours of preparing for the show. I hope BurdaStyle makes the DIY Fashion Show an annual event; I had such a wonderful time!

Today is officially the start of SXSW Film + Interactive! This weekend is going to be packed full of fashion events starting with a meet and greet Sunday morning followed by a hectic day of getting my model in hair and makeup and runway ready. Tomorrow I will be putting the finishing touches on the look my model and I will be wearing. I can’t wait to show off the new dress I made! Monday I plan to check out Plutopia 2011 – “The Future of Play” at SXSW Interactive featuring a futuristic fashion show, music, and ROBOTS! Then possibly attend Taco Tuesday at Takoba (say that three times fast!)

I received an email this afternoon from the producer of the BurdaStyle DIY Fashion Show that Kramp Kouture was chosen as part of their line up for the runway show on March 13th held during SXSW. There is so much to prepare for before the show! I have to select a model, attend a meet and greet, and have everything ready for call time on March 13th. This is going to be an amazing chance to gain some great press and networking. Being a selected participant, I will be featured in a new BurdaStyle blog series, Meet the Designer. BurdaStyle will also be heavily promoting this event in a newsletter going out to 185,000+ world-wide subscribers and to a membership of near 500,000 members. The guest list is to be of 500 attendees, including influential fashion bloggers, DIY world influencers, and the BurdaStyle family. I can’t wait to see the fashion show come together, mingle and sip cocktails.

BurdaStyle recently announced that they are hosting a DIY Fashion Show during SXSW in Austin, TX on March 13th. They are casting 15 DIY fashion designers to showcase during their event. I submitted my entry today and can’t wait for the announcement on February 15th, I hope I make the cut! Even if I don’t, I’ll definitely be there to see the show, network, and sip cocktails.
